FIXED WIRELESS vs SATELLITE/CABLE/DSL

FIXED WIRELESS

SPEED

With our very own high-tech LTE wireless system, we provide high-speed internet to even the most underserved, rural areas. With fixed wireless, you’ll also have a low latency connection, which means faster streaming and download speeds.

DOWNTIME

At Four Lakes Broadband, we keep an eye on our equipment 24/7/365, which means that if something happens, we usually know about it before you! This means that we’ll typically catch and resolve any network issues as soon as they happen, resulting in minimal — if any — downtime, and proactive resolution when issues do occur.

RELIABILITY

A dedicated, fixed wireless connection is about as reliable as you can get.

SATELLITE, CABLE, AND DSL

SPEED

Satellite internet can be slow due to the time it takes to transmit a signal from your dish to the satellite and back down again. Likewise, cable and DSL can be slow during “internet peak hours” when many users are logged in at once.

DOWNTIME

With satellite, downtime can occur at any time due to poor weather conditions. And, because larger internet providers (cable and DSL) have so many customers, they can’t possibly monitor all their customers at once, and troubleshooting usually means calling a remote call center somewhere not in Wisconsin.

RELIABILITY

Because cable and DSL rely on old, buried lines, their network connection is less reliable than what it can be with fixed wireless. Satellite frequently has weather related issues, as well.
